Fill In CameraMay 25, 2008

My Canon PowerShot S50 developed a twitchy on and off syndrome and finally stopped working altogether while on vacation in Germany so I looked at what I could get for about 150 Euros and ended up picking the Samsung L100 with 2 GB RAM. It had image stabilization, more megapixels (8.1) and a percieved quality about it that attracted me, although I didn't know that I could have gotten it for much less here. I am embarrassed to admit that I had to go back to the store for them to show me how to use the self timer, because the quick start manual didn't show how and I couldn't figure it out myself. All I had to do was to press the multi control button right side repeatedly until the timer icon comes up and by pressing the right side of that button repeatedly you select the 2 or 10 second option. Then postion the camera and hit the trigger button and it works fine, with little flashes of light telling you when to get ready by increasing in frequency until it shoots a picture. It has a fairly advanced red eye protection system that works well. I am happy I bought it because the other options available were for more money or for less features at that price. The pictures it takes are very nice.Samsung L100 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)

Not Worth It!Oct 10, 2008
By L. M. McKee I was not happy with this product. The shutter speed is very slow so it took forever to capture a shot, and by then the subject had moved. I took about 25 pictures of random things including my cats and the children I work with to familiarize myself with the camera. When I turned it on later to look through them all the shots had been deleted by the camera. It just was not worth the price!
Nice pictures, not so nice videoJan 23, 2010
By Gerald It's slim and stylish but I think the picture quality is just so, so. The menu is hard to use and the directions, forget it. Maybe good for someone who has time to change the settings(there are a lot), but I wouldn't recommend for just point and shoot ease. The video was I guess about what you'd get from most cameras but at night lights appear with a purple streak. For under a $100 I suppose this camera is acceptable. The best thing about it is the lithium battery. It last forever!

Great value camera! Great pictures and video. Sound in videos could be a little low because of microphone placement. Only drawback on this unit.
It comes with no user manual. Camera has manual, wizard and practice mode ON SCREEN! That was an amazing good idea! First time I have seen help implemented in this way and it can truly help since you can not carry around a booklet all the time.

I bought this camera for my brother-in-law because he liked the one I bought myself. excellent pictures simple features, excellent battery life.
Nice and small with a big screen. I also like the twist control and the ease of using the macro, flash and self timer. Much easier than the multiple layers of touch screen on my daughter's Sony that cost 4 times as much.
